My two haiku about childhood memories published in brass bell: a haiku journal. Thank you so much, Zee Zahava. Looking forward to the next issue!
Make the universe your companion, always bearing in mind the true nature of things—mountains and rivers, trees and grasses, and humanity—and enjoy the falling blossoms and the scattering leaves. ~Bashō

Ribbons (Spring/Summer 2016)
Tears of a Child
where are the memories
of mother loving me?
tiny spiders
crawl out from the cracks
of her headstone
the many times
I rolled down the stairs
as a child
her spankings hurt
more than any fall
moth wings quiver
with the slightest wind
all the things
I wish I could have done
without fear
growing up
her photos followed me
around the room
an artificial flower arrangement
stuck in an old vase
a tree branches out
with its blossoms and fruits
I didn’t know
what I wanted to be
but to be loved
you ask me why
now I write these stories
for children. . .
tears rolling down
the doll’s face are mine
where are the memories
of mother loving me?
tiny spiders
crawl out from the cracks
of her headstone
the many times
I rolled down the stairs
as a child
her spankings hurt
more than any fall
moth wings quiver
with the slightest wind
all the things
I wish I could have done

Ribbons Winter 2016
STUPOR
no one
calling my name
this morning
a cup of water stays
cold
in the microwave
preparations
for the memorial
the chrysanthemums
quietly wither
on the side
an avalanche
of memories snowballing
into grief
the stories behind
a box of receipts
every now and then
the flicker of a firefly
. . .
still in my hand
all of you I need
to let go
not accepting
what goodbye really
means
my breath lingers
in every shape and sound
of spring dusk

Prune Juice Issue 17
Some good things never last too long! In case you don't know yet, this is Terri Hale French's last issue of Prune Juice as editor.
I'm glad my 3 senryu are appearing here and that Prune Juice: Journal of Senryu, Kyoka, and Haiga is not really over. Let's give a warm welcome to Steve Hodge as the new editor.

2013 National Haiku Writing Month
This month I'm writing a haiku a day. It's not for a doodle this time (He Doodle, You 'Ku just ended yesterday), but for a prompt on NaHaiWriMo. This is my second time jumping in and I hope to enjoy it as much as last time with all the new and familiar faces.
Writing prompts will have a different theme each week. For this week, the theme is food. The February 1 prompt is PASTA.

You can see my haiku here. I hope you join me in posting one haiku a day because this haiku community is so helpful and supportive that you'll never stop visiting the site. Yes, you can continue sharing your haiku for the rest of the year. NaHaiWriMo keeps going on even past February. That's how successful it is! Find out all the details here.
