My alcohol ink painting entitled "Spills" on the latest issue of Sonic Boom. Thank you so much, Shloka Shankar! It's always an honor to be a part of your amazing journal! Download Issue Twenty here.
Make the universe your companion, always bearing in mind the true nature of things—mountains and rivers, trees and grasses, and humanity—and enjoy the falling blossoms and the scattering leaves. ~Bashō

Sonic Boom's Sixth Annual Senryu Contest
I'm so happy that I was given this opportunity to judge the Sixth Annual Senryu Contest of Sonic Boom . It was a pleasure picking out the winners and writing my commentaries for each poem.
I took screenshots of the results because I know one day only the list of winners will be posted. I'd like to keep a photo of my commentaries. If you would like to read them, here they are below. Right now, you can still view the whole thing by clicking here.

Sonic Boom Issue Nine (August 2017)
I don't always remember to submit to Sonic Boom, but whenever I do, I keep my fingers crossed that editor Shloka Shankar would accept at least one of my works. For the most current issue, I have two acceptances, one of which is my very first media art entitled "Wine Moon." I used some cutout pictures, small bottle, shells, net, glitters, distress spray stain, modeling paste, and other media art products. For the finishing touch, I added some digital effects.
Anyone can read the current issue here.

Sonic Boom's 3rd Annual Senryu Contest
I made it to the merit list of Sonic Boom's 3rd Annual Senryu Contest 2017 which received 120 entries from close to 25 countries. Thank you, Haiku, my furry companion, for being my huge inspiration! Congratulations to Terri Hale French, Dawn Apanius, Tia Haynes, Julie Warther, and all the other awardees.

Sonic Boom Issue 2 (tanka prose)
Elegy
Every day is a chore. The most difficult time of day is when I need to drag myself out of bed in the mornings. I hate waking up to a pile of dishes in the sink, dirty clothes strewn all over the bedroom floor, books and magazines lying around the house, phone messages of friends who worry about where I am.
There are a few things I consistently love to do, though. Brunch is composed of tea and honey, toast, and soft-boiled eggs. I eat in front of the computer to see what's new with my Facebook friends. The chat room is left open through the day just so that I have company, even if I don't feel like talking at all.
Then, I'm lost in a shuffle of to-do lists. Nothing gets accomplished as I move from one colossal project to another.
without you
I stumble on memories
I thought I'd forgotten . . .
the words of an elegy

I tell him
his cancer is back
as if I feel nothing

brim over the edges
of my dream . . .
how I long to know
if he's waiting for me
***
drowning
my fears
in the sound
of the garbage disposal—
