Here's a haiku by Angelo B. Ancheta (Philippines), written for my photo above.

  1. aloha Christine - i like that play on time and distance - length. strong image with the bare branches and solo bird. one of the things i do miss are the bare branches of winter. i dont see that so much here. yet it is in that branching structure that there is so much to learn about trees. ha. a tangent. i do get lost in an image at times. fun. and thank you for participating in the 30 days of haiga event. aloha.

    1. Where do you live, Rick? Hawaii? I guess that's why you miss the bare branches of winter. I chose this photo although branches are not bare yet at this time of the year because I want to express emptiness. The lines also are like the traces of time.
Thanks for checking out my haiga. I hope I can share more.

    2. yes, i live in Hawaii at the moment.

exactly. i was raised on "the mainland" - which is what locals call the mainland USA - but i've lived here for almost 25 years now.

yeah, too i dont always choose a photo i've just taken. if something i have suits my intent in some other way i'll select that one.

being in hawaii sometimes it's hard for me to find something i've photographed that gives a sense of winter elsewhere. altho i do have plenty of options, most are not recent.

oh. i like that - tracks of time - branches of time - branches of trees.

      cool on sharing more.

i got the ballet for your contest. i'm just way behind getting around. sheesh. i hope i havnt missed it yet?

i am delighted you are playing in the 30 Days of Haiga - thank you. aloha.

    3. I've been in Waikiki three times with my husband. I really enjoyed the weather, the festive atmosphere (hula shows and tourists everywhere!), and the relaxing feel of the sand and the breeze. I wish it were cheaper to live there. :-)

You weren't late in submitting the ballots. :-) Thanks!

I'll try to find time to play some more in the 30 Days of Haiga. Mahalo! ;-)

    4. Chrissi - i seem to have gotten here via the "Return" prompt Linky. maybe i' should have landed on another ?? - altho i see i didnt not respond to your last reply... either way cool. i get things mixed up plenty - so no worries on that. i hope i havnt missed one of your works for 30 Days of Haiga tho...

yeah, Waikiki is fun. even with all the tourists. one of the reasons it's such a great destination is that even when it's raining else where Waikiki can remain rainless - or nearly rainless - altho not always. because it is heavily touristed it is a little different than other areas in the islands too. i hope you've had a chance to explore out into ssome of those other areas - altho all of Oahu has a lot of people (it's the most populated island by far) it still has some great places to explore. of course that is true of each of the islands. each island has a different feel to it - or it seems that way to me.

yeah - the cost here is not cheap. altho living here you find ways to deal with it. the initial jump here can be staggering when you look at prices. yeah, weather is one of the things i like about here too. and the mix of cultures. and a lot of other things as well.

cool on playing in the 30 Days of Haiga. i'm having a lot of fun. ...and if i was supposed to land on another haiga - other than this one. just let me know on any of the posts and i'll find it. ...and fun on too of course - aloha.

    5. It's ok if it landed here. I think I also said the same thing in other posts. I know I've expressed it here and in another post that I love Hawaii and that I envy you.

One time it rained while we were there. Actually, it was just a short drizzle. The weather was gorgeous! Yah, maybe one day I'll be able to get to see the other islands. Next time I'd like to see a less commercialized area.
