Wild Plum Haiku Contest 2018
I forgot that I sent an entry to the Wild Plum Haiku Contest so it was a wonderful surprise to wake up this morning to find out on Facebook that my haiku has received an honorable mention. Butterfly Dream: Death Anniversary Haiku

The unexpected yet emotionally power closing line lifts the poem out of the ordinary, and on a second reading, the opening image of "cracks on his leather chair" successfully carries emotional weight and symbolic significance.
