In the Philippines, Filipinos gather twelve round fruits on New Year's eve to attract prosperity and good fortune. Each fruit represents one fruit for each month of the year. When I was growing up, our family didn't practice this tradition every year, nor did I adopted this later on in life. However, every time I see a bowl of fruits, it reminds me of the many wishes one has for the new year.
